DL Capt. Jack P. Smith

DL Capt Jack P. 'Possum' Smith

Notification with the passing of Delta Golden Wings member retired DL pilot Captain Jack Phillip Smith, age 94.  Captain Smith joined Delta Air Lines 01-03-1945 and retired in 1980, based DFW.  Captain Smith was widowed in February 2008 with the passing of his wife LaVoe Taylor Smith.  They had most recently resided near Euless TX.  Services for Captain Smith were held May 12th in Colleyville TX.

Obituary..................................
Jack P. Smith, 94, peacefully passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015. He joined his wife, LaVoe, of 66 years of marriage. Jack was a retired Delta Airlines Captain with 37 years of service.
 
Services: Funeral service, Tuesday May 12, 12:30PM at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Visitation prior to service from 11-12:15PM at Bluebonnet Hills. Interment to follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
 
Survivors: son, Mark Smith (Gale); daughter, Sheldra 'Shelly' Grant (Ric); three grandchildren - Phillip Smith (Sara), Nicole Smith Derrick (Chris), Summer Grant Kelner (Jeremy); and five great grandchildren - Jackson Derrick, Michael Kelner, Alexander 'Lex' Kelner, William Kelner, and Justin Kelner.

LaVoe Taylor Smith  obituary  ,  1922-2008

LaVoe Taylor Smith, 85, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed peacefully from this life Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at her home.
LaVoe was born June 23, 1922, in Colfax.
Survivors: Her husband, Jack P. Smith; son, Mark C. Smith and wife, Gale; daughter, Sheldra "Shelly" Grant and husband, Ric; grandchildren, Phillip M. Smith and wife, Sara, Nicole R. Smith and husband, Chris, Summer L. Grant and fiance, Jeremy; great-grandson, Jackson Derrick; extended-family members; and a host of friends.
