As noted in the recent Air Line Pilot magazine's In Memoriam column, belated notification with the passing of NWA pilot Captain Robert Thomas McClellan, age 93.  Captain McClellan joined Northwest Airlines 06-05-1952 and retired December 1979.  He is survived by his wife Betty.

Obituary .........

Robert Thomas McClellan died September 17, 2015, in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the age of 93. He was born on March 25, 1922, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended De LaSalle in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He then went on to attend University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Robert enlisted in the Marine Corps and was a fighter pilot in World War II, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and a Gold Star. He received an honorable discharge on 1943 as Captain. On August 28, 1948, he married in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They were married 67 years and had eleven children, and lived in Minneapolis and Mound, Minnesota. He was a pilot for Northwest Airlines (now Delta), in Minneapolis, Minnesota for 25 years. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, motorcycle riding, traveling and playing Bingo at the VFW and American Legion in Mound. He was the Vice Commander of the VFW Post 5113 and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church for 50 years. He will be greatly missed. Bob is survived by his wife, Betty McClellan; children: Patrick (Sheryl), Steven, Mark (Judy), Kevin (Marie Therese), Phillip, Monica (Gary) Elesser, Vincent (Kirstie), Mary Lou (Stuart) Johnson, Brian (deceased), Anthony, & Michael; grandchildren: Brendan & Sean, Lulu, Veronica & Corey Lawson, Jackie (Dan) Larson, Jolene, Cheirdi, Heidn, Jaimie, Jessika (Jim) Schneider, Amy (Jesse) Huron, Justin Kriesal, Dan Simonet, Owen, Ella, Mandy, Joe & Emily Crook, Ben Johnson, Meaghan, Patrick; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 2385 Commerce Blvd., Mound (952-472-1284). Visitation Wednesday, 5-8 PM with prayer service at 7 PM at Huber Funeral Home, Mound Chapel, 1801 Commerce Blvd., Mound. Visitation also 1/2 hour prior to Mass at church on Thursday. Reception following service. Interment Ft Snelling National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in the name of Robert McClellan to Sharing & Caring Hands.
