The family of Delta Captain Charlie Hill
have notified us of his passing this day Sunday, January 3rd. Delta Golden
Wings member retired pilot Captain Charles Madison Hill was 73 years of age.
Captain Hill joined Delta Air Lines 10-17-1969 and retired with Delta in 2002,
based ATL. He is survived by his wife Kathryn, their children and
grandchildren. Arrangements have been

Charles Madison Hill, age 73, passed away at Baroness
Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Sunday, January 3, 2016,
surrounded by his family.
Charlie was born at home in Helena, Telfair County, Georgia,
on July 21, 1942, to Charles Gilbert Hill and Ethel McDaniel Hill. After
graduation from Telfair County High School, he graduated from the University of
Georgia and entered the U.S. Air Force.
As a pilot during the Vietnam era he instructed in T-37s and
T-38s. Before retirement in 2002 as an International Airline Captain with
Delta, Charlie flew the Convair 880, DC-9, L-1011, DC-8, B-727, L-100, B-757 and
the B-767 over a 34 year period.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Kathryn Underwood Hill, son
David M. Hill; son Douglas K. Hill and daughter-in-law Mindy; son Stephen D.
Scroggins and daughter-in-law Donna; grandchildren Asher, Aaron, Gabi, Tyler,
Emily and Anna Grace.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and
Ethel Hill, sisters Anne Dudley and Mary Ethel Hill.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 5, 2016, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00
p.m. and Wednesday, January 6th, 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 6th –
1:00 p.m. at Scot Ward’s Funeral Home, 699 American Legion Road, Conyers, GA
30012 (770-483-7216).
Interment will be Thursday, January 7th, 1:00
p.m., Oak Grove Cemetery, McRae, GA.
