News has reached us with the passing of Gayle Lynn Bezdek, wife of retired Delta pilot Captain Leo Bezdek.  Services for Gayle are planned for May 26th in Illinois with visitation the evening prior ... please see obituary below for information or contact the funeral home.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home of Crystal, Illinois.

Gayle Lynn Bezdek, 70, of Crystal Lake passed away May 20, 2016, surrounded by her family.
 
She was born January 23, 1946 in Chicago to James and Priscilla (Rushton) Hyman. She went to Shawnee Mission East High School in Prairie Village, Kansas and following graduation she attended Emporia State University. On July 31, 1982 she married Leo Bezdek in Woodstock, Illinois.
 
Gayle was a strong and incredibly active woman. She was active at the First Congregational Church in Crystal Lake and was devoted in her faith. Gayle was physically active with dance, yoga and exercise. She was active in her community by volunteering in various ways over the years whether in Girl Scouts or at Judith Svalander School of Ballet. She was active outside in her garden and kept her mind active reading. Beyond everything else Gayle was active with her family. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed family gatherings.
 
Gayle is survived by her husband, Leo; her children, Lisa Hunter, Brian (Lisa) Bezdek, Kimberly (Brian) Putty, Christina (Mike) Hanson, and Lesley Bezdek; her grandchildren, Noah, Tessa, Brandon, Aiden, Dillon, AJ, Ava, and Cole; her brother, Richard (Leslie) Hyman.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents.
 
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 25 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, May 26 at First Congregational Church, 461 Pierson St., Crystal Lake. Interment will be private.
 
Memorials may be made to her favorite Golden Retriever Rescue, As Good As Gold at asgoodasgold.org, or the Lung Cancer Alliance at lungcanceralliance.org, or the First Congregational Church.
