Notification with the passing of retired Western/Delta pilot Captain Galen Lester Skeem, age 77.  Captain Skeem joined Western Airlines 08-21-1967 and retired with Delta Air Lines based PDX/030.  Services for Captain Skeem will be held tomorrow June 28th in Washington state....please see obituary below for information.

Galen Lester Skeem, 77, passed away from cancer June 22nd, 2016, in Adna Washington, at his home of 40 years, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Buhl, Idaho, to Marcus B. and Leora Skeem. He married Anita Dilworth Skeem in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 6, 1961. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Galen Kendell Skeem, his sister Cheryl Skeem and brother Mark Roy Skeem.
 
He is survived by his wife Anita; daughter Anelle Landis (Phill), daughter Shauna Teagle, daughter Rhonda Brown (Bert), son Darren Skeem (Stephanie), son Craig Skeem (Sandra), daughter Cali Johnson (Jason), son Marcus Skeem (Stephanie), son Brydon Skeem (Nicole), son Kyan Skeem (Rose), and daughter Laurie Marx (Travis). He is also survived by sisters Maurvene Corbett, Rae Von Flerchinger (Lee), Karen Nickle, Marilyn Hayes, Beth Hoggan (Phil), and brother Scott Skeem (Terry). He leaves 42 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
 
Galen was raised on a farm in southern Idaho. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New England States from November 1958 to November 1960. Throughout his life he served faithfully in many various positions in the Church, including Bishop, Stake President, Counselor in the LDS Seattle Temple presidency, and then as President of the Seattle Temple with his wife serving beside him, a calling they both loved and cherished deeply.
 
Galen was a commercial airline pilot for 31 years, the majority being with Delta Airlines. One of the hobbies he enjoyed was building RC airplanes and flying them with his friends. His greatest joy was his family and his associations with them. He was a very devoted husband and father, and was deeply loved and respected by his family and many others who knew him. He will be missed beyond measure.
 

Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Jackson Highway in Chehalis, Washington, on Tuesday, June 28th 2016.
