Notification with the passing of Delta pilot Capt. David McFadden Short, age 57.  Captain Short joined Delta Air Lines 06-12-1989.  Captain Short’s obituary indicates that he flew for Delta 25 years.  He is survived by his wife Lori Ann.

Obituary................................
David McFadden Short, 57 years old of Antioch, IL; formerly Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away at his home on Monday, December 12, 2016 surrounded by family.
 
He was born September 11, 1959 in Decatur, IL, the son of the late John Edward and Margaret Rose (n e McFadden) Short. Dave grew up in Joliet, IL and attended Joliet Catholic High School before graduating from Marquette University in Milwaukee. After college, Dave joined the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1981 until 1989. He rose to the rank of Captain and was an instructor for the A-6E Intruder aircraft. After leaving the Marines, Dave worked for Delta Airlines for 25 years as an airline pilot, where he rose to the rank of Fleet Captain and oversaw pilot training for various airplanes; the MD88/90, Boeing 717 and DC9. Dave also received a law degree from Georgia State University in 1999 and was licensed in Georgia and Illinois.
 
On April 11, 1992, Dave married Lori Ann Esser in Antioch, IL. He loved being a family man; volunteering and coaching his kids. Above all, Dave especially loved the many good times he shared with his family and friends.
 
Dave is survived by his wife of over 24 years, Lori Ann; their children, Kathleen Marie, Elizabeth Rose, Anna Jeannette, and John Edward McFadden; his siblings, Neil Joseph (Linda) Short of Casper, WY and Jane Ellen (Robert) Hickok of Joliet, IL; his mother-in-law, Marie Bukin of Antioch, IL; his father-in-law, Edward Esser, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Linda Esser and Lisa (Brian) Kovach; brother-in-law, Edward Jr. (Elizabeth) Esser; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
 
Funeral Services 9:15AM Saturday, December 17, 2016 from the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. Antioch, IL 60002 to St. Peter Church, 557 Lake St. Antioch. Mass 10:00AM. Interment with Military Honors will immediately follow in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.  Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00PM until 8:00PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
