Jack S. Kelly, a graduate of Clemson University


Jack Sherman Kelly of Landrum, SC passed away on January 9, 2017.  He was born December 8, 1940, in Jacksonville, FL to Mack and Grace Kelly.  He was a graduate of Clemson University, a veteran who served in Vietnam as an Air Force F-4 Fighter Pilot, and a Pilot with Delta Airlines for 29 years.  He was Assistant Chief Pilot of Atlanta from 1989-1992, and Chief Pilot from 1992-1995.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul.
Surviving is a wife, Frances Kayle Kelly and daughter, Cristal Kelly; brothers Bill (Betty), J.R. (Carmelita), Terry (Roni); sisters Carol Cason (Ben), Nancy Allen, and Doris Jimenez (Abner).
There will be a celebration of his life on April 29, 2017 at 1pm at Mountain Hill Community Church, Glassy Mountain, Landrum, SC.  A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

DL Capt. Jack S. Kelly
December 8, 1940 ~ January 9, 2017
Word has been received with the passing of Delta Golden Wings member retired Delta pilot and former Chief Pilot Captain Jack S. Kelly.  Captain Kelly passed due to complications of Parkinson’s Disease.  He was 76 years of age.  Captain Kelly joined Delta Air Lines 01-05-1970 and was based Atlanta.  He is survived by his wife Frances ‘Kayle’ and daughter Cristal. 
To date we have not seen an online obituary or guestbook but condolences may be sent to the family at
2 Night Hawk Way, Landrum, SC 29356-3406. 
Memorial services will be advised when known.  As we receive more information, we will be sure to pass it along.
