G. Jeanne Haas, wife of DL Capt. Roger A. Haas
December 16, 1931 ~ February 3, 2017
News has reached our group with the passing of G. Jeanne Haas,
wife of Delta Golden Wings member retired Delta Air Lines pilot Captain Roger
Haas. Mrs. Haas was 85 years of age at the time of her passing yesterday
February 3rd. As noted in Jeanne’s obituary below, no services as was her
wish. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to the Alzheimer’s
Association, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to the Homeward Bound
Pet Rescue of Gilmer County....please see online site details below.

Gretchen Jeanne Haas, of Ellijay, GA, wife of Capt. Roger
Haas, passed away
on 3 February 2017. Born in Memphis, TN in 1931, she was a
graduate of
Sacred Heart High School. She served as a Reservations Agent
for C&S
Airlines in St. Louis before moving to Atlanta to become a
Ticket Agent with
Eastern Airlines at Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport.
She married
Roger Allen Haas in 1962 and raised her two daughters in
Atlanta before
moving to Ellijay in 1985 where she began a career in real
estate on Walnut
Mountain. She was an avid tennis player, competing in the
Atlanta Lawn
Tennis Association (ALTA) and an enthusiastic supporter of the
Atlanta
Falcons. She was a great lover of dogs and enjoyed traveling
with family and
friends, including a memorable trip to the Ice Hotel in
Kiruna, Sweden.
She is survived by her husband, Roger A. Haas, and two
daughters: Laura J.
Haas of New Orleans, LA and Linda C. Haas of Asheville, NC as
well as a few
grand-puppies: Jake, Abiquiu, and Tilghman, too, as well as
Amite, the tiny
cat. Jeanne was predeceased by her beloved Great Dane, Tiny
Tim.
Special thanks to the superb staff at the Gilmer Nursing Home
and at
Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care for their attentive
care, overall
kindness, and never-ending sense of humor.
No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that
memorials be made to the national Alzheimer’s Association (
alz.org ), the St.
Jude Children’s Research Hospital ( stjude.org ), or to the
Homeward Bound Pet
Rescue of Gilmer County ( HBPR.org ).
