DL Capt. Henricus 'Henk' Volkert Smit

News has reached our group with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Henricus Volkert Smit, age 76.  Captain Smit first joined Northeast Airlines 07-15-1968 and retired with Delta Air Lines, based ATL/030.  He is survived by his wife Denise, his daughters and grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be said for Captain Smit on May 26th, that is Saturday at 9:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City GA.

Obituary.................. Henricus Volkert Smit
Henricus Volkert Smit, 76, of Peachtree City passed away May 18, 2018. Henricus was born in Aruba, Netherland Antilles, on April 18, 1942 to the late Martinus and Engelina Smit. He graduated from Kansas State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree and then he began his career at Delta Air Lines, as a pilot and flew for 32 years. He was very active in several ministries at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, including adult religious education and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the leg movement of Regnum Christi.
He is survived by his wife, Denise Smit; daughters, Danielle (Michael) Rodgers of Denver and Lindsay Smit of Nashville; grandchildren, Emerson, Elliott, and Eleanor Rodgers.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 9:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Peachtree City, with burial immediately following at Westminster Memorial Gardens.

    Sorry for your loss.A great actor . We grew up watching his movies ,my mom loved westerns.There will never be another one like him.
