Please forgive this belated notice....we have just heard of the passing of RNPA member retired Northwest pilot Captain Robert Warren Cummings, age 78.  Captain Cummings joined Northwest Airlines 01-06-1969.  Captain Cummings’ obituary  may still be viewed online at
Obituary information notes that Captain Cummings is survived by his wife Suzanne ‘Suzy’ plus many other family members and friends.

Obituary.....................

Robert W. Cummings, age 78 of Seminole, FL, took his last flight heaven bound from Suncoast Hospice, Palm Harbor, FL on October 13, 2018 surrounded by loving family and friends . Born December 26, 1939 in Duluth, MN, he graduated from Denfield High School and UMD. His love of flying spanned his lifetime; Duluth Civil Air Patrol, AFROTC, Interceptor Pilot training on the F-102 and RF-101, the Voodoo, 45th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron at TanSonNhut, Vietnam, Air Command, and Minnesota Air National guard. He retired as a Lt. Colonel from the Air Force in 1968, a decorated Vietnam Veteran, having received numerous medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. He will long be remembered as "A pilot's pilot." He was a pilot and captain for Northwest Airlines, retiring after 27 years. Bob was a devoted member of his beloved Harborside Christian Church in Safety Harbor, FL, serving many years on the Safety and Security team. He was a long time member of The Albert Whitted Preservation Society, and volunteered with Eagle Scouts, Tampa Bay Watch, and JAARS in mission events and organizing airport events and speaking opportunities in local Christian Schools. He is survived by his wife, Suzy, her two children, Shannon Haagsma (Carl) of Palm Harbor and Mark Haagsma of Indian Rocks Beach, 3 daughters, Vickie Moening (Jeff) of Rogers, MN., Barbara Habiger of Minn., MN, Tracy Halle (Louis) of Portsmouth, N.H., a sister, Linda O' Connor (Dave) of Duluth, MN, a brother, Don Cummings (Karen) of Eagan, MN, and 8 grand-children. A Celebration of Life will be held at Harborside Christian Church Chapel, 2200 Marshall Street in Safety Harbor, on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation.org or Alz.org (Alzheimer's Association).
