Belated news and as noted in the ALPA magazine’s In Memoriam column ..... notification with the passing of Pan Am/Delta pilot Captain David Hill Peterson, age 77, nearing his 78th birthday.  Capt. Peterson joined Pan American Airways 01-27-1973.  Obituary below notes that he retired with Delta Air Lines in 1995.

Obituary for David Hill Peterson..........................
David Hill Peterson, 77, of Windsor, Colorado died unexpectedly Monday January 1, 2018.
 
David leaves his wife of 54 years, Lynn (Poole) ; three children, Suzanne (Scott) Rose, Noel (John) Ries, and David (Laura) Peterson, Jr.; six grandchildren, Madelynn, Collin, Elizabeth, David, Tripp, Eliza and Bronwyn; four great grandchildren, Austin, Serenity, Cheyenne, and Brooklyn; and sister, Piper Peterson. Preceded in death by his parents Anne (Wells) and Frederick R. Peterson and brothers George and William Peterson.
 
David was born January 14, 1940 in Trenton, NJ.
David graduated from Taft School in Watertown, CT in 1957, from Princeton University in 1961, and was also member of the Charter Club. He played hockey while attending Princeton. Following college, rather than going on to Cornell for Law School, he joined the U.S. Naval Aviation program as he had never flown in an airplane. He was an air craft carrier pilot aboard carriers; Saratoga, Forrestal, and the Lexington. Following the Navy he flew for Pan American World Airways until 1989 at which time he joined Delta Airlines. Captain Peterson retired from Delta Airlines in 1995 due to the diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. Dave was an excellent golfer, an all round sports enthusiast, and a brilliant man with an unmatched sense of humor.
 

A memorial service will be held Saturday January 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Windsor, CO.
