USAF veteran, SO/NWA Capt. James Douglas Hollandsworth Sr.

January 30, 1932 - January 26, 2021

 

Belated notice with the passing of retired Southern/Northwest pilot Captain James Douglas Hollandsworth Sr., age 88…..just shy of his 89th birthday.  Captain Hollandsworth first flew for Southern Airways and with the merger he retired with Northwest Airlines.  Obituary information may be found online at

Doug is survived by his wife Diane Davis along with his son and his grand- and great grandchildren.

Obituary and funeral service: James Douglas Hollandsworth, Sr., 88, of Monroe, passed away on January 26, 2021. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Monroe First Baptist Church, 202 McDaniel St. Monroe, GA 30655. Heath & Jim Hollandsworth will officiate. The church is requesting everyone to wear masks. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3700 Stone Mountain Hwy. Snellville, GA 30039.

Doug was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served in the Korean War. He was a retired pilot with Northwest Airlines. Doug was preceded in death by his late wife in 2012, Elizabeth Hollandsworth; parents, Barkley James & Bertha (Beshears) Hollandsworth; he is survived by his wife, Diane Davis; son & daughter-in-law, Doug & Judy Hollandsworth; grandsons & granddaughters-in-law, Jim & Melinda Hollandsworth, Ryan & Holly Hollandsworth, Heath & Ashley Hollandsworth, Hunter & Kaylie Hollandsworth; 8 great-grandchildren; brother & sister-in-law, Paul & Martha Hollandsworth and 2 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM before the service at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 209 Hammond Drive, Monroe, GA 30655 (770) 267-2594.
