WWII veteran, PNA/WAL  Capt. Floyd D. Lannoye

March 25, 1924 - April 10, 2021

 

Notification with the passing of retired Pacific Northern/Western pilot Captain Floyd Donvan Lannoye, age 97.  Captain Lannoye joined Pacific Northern Airways 05-05-1953 and retired with Western Airlines.  He is survived by his wife Doris, his children, and his grand- and great grandchildren.

Obituary :  Floyd D. Lannoye

Born March 25, 1924 in Egeland ND.

Deceased April 10, 2021 in Puyallup WA.

He is survived by his wife Doris of 69 years, his children Kristi Knox, Randy Lannoye, Susan Hansen, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He spent his childhood years in ND and his teen years in the Wenatchee WA area where he was confirmed in the Lutheran church, played varsity basketball and track and spent his summers working in the apple orchards. His family moved to Port Angeles WA when he was a senior in high school where he won state champion in the high hurdles. He then attended U.W. until his enlistment in the Army Air Corps aviation cadet's pilot program. He spent time as a first officer on a B-24 during WW II. After the war he became a flight instructor and an A&E mechanic. His career was a pilot/Captain with PNA and Western Airlines, retiring after 31 years of service. His hobbies were rebuilding airplanes, hunting and fishing.

To visit his gravesite he's buried at Tahoma National Cemetery, section Columbarium, plot 3BB-C23.
