USAF veteran, DL Capt. Theodore Francis “Ted” Purtell
November 27, 1932 - July 24, 2021
Word has reached our group with news of the passing of Delta
Golden Wings member retired Delta pilot Captain Ted Purtell, age 88. Captain Purtell joined Delta Air Lines 11-11-1957
and retired with Delta in 1992 based Atlanta.
Widowed in July 2020 with the passing of his wife Linda, Captain Purtell
us survived by his son Michael and his grandchildren.

Services for Captain Purtell will be held tomorrow July 31st,
at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home, 1801 Delaware Ave., McComb, MS 39648.

Obituary : Theodore F. Purtell, 88, a resident of McComb,
MS; passed away July 24, 2021 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical
Center. Visitation will be held on
Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 2:00 PM until
services at 4:00 PM. Dr. Jonathan
Speegle will officiate. Burial will be
in Hollywood cemetery.
Mr. Purtell was born on November 27, 1932 in St. Louis. He was the son of John Francis Purtell and
Hellen Yemm Purtell. He was a member of
Centenary United Methodist Church and a United States Air Force veteran. He worked after his military career as an
Airline Pilot with Delta Airlines until retirement. Mr. Purtell had several hobbies some of which
included, snow skiing, golf, crossword puzzles and reading.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Linda
Purtell, and a daughter; Brooke Elizabeth Purtell-McDaniel.
He is survived by his son, Michael Purtell; grandchildren,
Brian Purtell, Colin Purtell, Kelly Purtell and Whitney Goings; along with many
other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be:
Clem Stovall, Ralph Price, Pat Brumfield, Leroy Smith, Sean Doyle and
Pender Johnson.

Word has
reached us with sad news of the passing of Linda Purtell, wife of Delta Golden
Wings member retired Delta Air Lines pilot Captain Ted F. Purtell.
Linda’s passing was due to complications of pancreatic cancer.
Arrangements
for Linda were entrusted to Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb, MS.
