USAF veteran, NEA/DL Capt. Jonathan ‘Jon’ G. Palsson

November 21, 1938 ~ July 29, 2021

 


Notification with the passing of retired Northeast/Delta pilot Captain Jonathan Gudmundur Palsson, age 82.  Captain Palsson joined Northeast Airlines 09-06-1966 and retired with Delta Air Lines based QNY/030, Ld. Ln. Ck. Airman.  He is survived by his wife Joan, his son Timothy, and his grandson Luke.

Obituary : Jonathan G. Palsson, son of Gudmundur and Louise Palsson was born November 21, 1938 and was raised in Quincy, MA.  While growing up, he met his best friend and future wife, Joan Harron. They lived in Duxbury, MA for 52 years, but they also enjoyed spending time in Sarasota, FL and at their camp on Thompson Lake, ME

 

Jon was known for his quick wit, outstanding memory and ability to make others laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. A graduate of Quincy High School.  He joined the USAF in 1957, discharged in 1961.

 

Jon enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an active member of Ducks Unlimited.  He always loved aviation and while young, spent hours flying an Aeronca single-engine airplane with his brother, Gene.  He was fortunate to spend his career doing what he loved. He began his flying career in 1966 with Northeast Airlines, then went on to become a Captain with Delta Airlines, retiring in 1998.

 

He leaves behind his wife, Joan, son Timothy, grandson, Luke, his sister-in-law, Janet Harron Jackson, a niece and several nephews.  He was pre-deceased by his brother Eugene and sister Athena Phillips.

 

Services will be private.
