Military veteran, DL Capt. Patrick J. Donnelly

August 23, 1940 ~ October 3, 2021

 


Notification with news of the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Patrick J. "Pat" Donnelly, age 81.  Captain Donnelly joined Delta Air Lines 09-12-1969 and retired with Delta in 2000, based 030/ATL.  Widowed in August of 2017, he is survived by his sons and their families.

Obituary : Patrick (Pat) J. Donnelly, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 4th, 2021, after a short illness. Born in Philadelphia, Patrick attended Philadelphia Archdiocesan schools and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. Patrick joined the US Marine Corp, serving as a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War. After his military service, Pat enjoyed a 30-year career flying for Delta Air Lines retiring in 2000 as a Captain. Pat and his wife were longtime residents of Slidell, LA, making their post retirement home in Kingsport, TN. Patrick is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Janet M Donnelly, his brother Maj John (Jack) Donnelly USAF Retired and his sister, Sister Kathleen Donnelly IHM. Pat is survived by his two sons, Sean Donnelly and wife Rebecca; Michael Donnelly; two grandsons Brendan Donnelly and Aidan Donnelly; and his sister Annamarie Yuhas and husband Ted Yuhas.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by The American Legion, Hammond Post # 3, and Gate City Post #265. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45am Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beyond Brave, a non-profit founded to provide support to Wounded Warriors and veterans: www.beyondbrave.org/donate.

DEATH :        16 Aug 2017 (aged 77)

Jan was an Honor Graduate of Mansfield Senior High School in Mansfield, Ohio. She received her B.S. in Physical Therapy from Ohio State University and was an Honor Graduate of the United States Naval School, Officer, Women. She had worked as a Licensed Physical Therapist and was a founding partner of Northlake Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Services where she worked until her retirement in 1997.

Jan was the president of Slidell Memorial Hospital Hospice Foundation, Slidell Junior Auxiliary, Le Cotillion, River Oak Homeowners' Association and the Bayou Orthopedic Study Group, all in Slidell, LA. She was also the past recording secretary of the Ozone Camellia Club. Jan was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church………….
