Notice of passing…..retired Delta Air Lines pilot Captain Robert "Bob" D. Mims III, age 80.  Captain Mims joined Delta Air Lines 02-08-1973 and was based ATL/030.  He is survived by his wife Theresa and by his children and their families.  To view the obituary and share memories online please visit the funeral home website at

A funeral mass will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 3rd at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Savannah.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the evening prior at Richmond Hill Funeral Home, 8901 Ford Ave., Richmond Hill, Georgia.

Obituary : Robert "Bob" D. Mims III

Robert D. Mims III (Bob) passed away January 24, 2023, with his family by his side after a long illness. He was a devoted Patriarch to his family and will be missed by his family always. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Theresa, daughter Terri (David), son John (Teresa) and 6 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren.

 

Bob is a graduate of West Georgia College. Bob served 2 years in Vietnam and received a Distinguished Flying Cross for his accomplishments. He retired from the Air National Guard after 24 years of service to his Country. He was a pilot for Delta Airlines and retired in 2001 after 29 years of service. Bob enjoyed his family and friends to the fullest and enjoyed an active life filled with love, birthdays, holidays, family events, hunting, fishing and vacations.

 

The passing years brought joy and good times with his many friends and family. He was a member of the Forest City Gun Club, Grey Eagles, SAFANG, and a former Richmond Hill Rotary club member.
