___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

BOB MCAFEE OBITUARY

Robert "Bob" Craig McAfee was born July 12, 1944, in Pensacola, Florida, and peacefully passed on February 17, 2023, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer. Bob loved his beautiful wife, Miriam, and his West Highland White Terriers, Miles & Patrick. A lively, spirited man, he graduated from Florida State University where he served as President of Delta Tau Delta. After graduation he joined the Navy following in his father's footsteps, as a naval aviator, during the Vietnam war era. After completing his military service, he became a commercial airline pilot for three decades, flying for Southern Airways, Republic Airways and Northwest Airlines, providing exemplary and safe service for thousands of passengers, becoming the Director of Flying. During this time, he continued to serve his country in the Navy Reserves as squadron leader, retiring from the military at the rank of Captain in the late 1980's.

Bob is survived by his wife, Miriam; his son, Warren; daughter-in-law, Chrissy; and granddaughter, Hannah; their daughter, Kennedy Granger and son, Andrew "Drew" Granger, and Patrick their "Westie". He is now reunited with his daughter, Merrill, who preceded him in death, in heaven.

He will be greatly missed, especially by his wife, Miriam, and family, his many friends, the veteran community, fellow parishioners at Christ Church in Ponte Vedra Beach, staff and members of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, and fellow members of the American Legion Post #233, where he served as a Legionnaire Officer.

Bob lived life to the fullest every day; "In the hearts of those who loved you, you will always be there."

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023, 2 pm, at Christ Church, 400 San Juan Drive, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, 32082.
