___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity.  : DOUGLAS HAACK OBITUARY

Douglas Henry Haack, age 67, unexpectedly passed away en route to the hospital on the morning of March 10, 2023 Crested Butte, CO, where he lived. He was a graduate of Regis University in Denver, CO, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Teresa (Terri) Ann (née O'Hayre) in 1978, and the two were married for nearly 45 years until the day of his passing.

Following a career as Director of Economic Development at the Boulder, CO, Chamber of Commerce, Doug spent several years as a flight instructor at the Williamsburg, VA, regional airport before achieving a lifelong dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot. He spent many years as a First Officer for United Airlines, and then as a Captain for Delta Airlines, and he was also a proprietor of his own small business, Digital Photogenics, LLC., where he worked until his retirement.

Doug was a lifelong skier, avid golfer, professional photographer, and an accomplished traditional and graphic artist. He is survived by his wife Terri, son Brian, brother Daniel (Bonnie), and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. He was preceded in death by both parents, Robert and Jane, and eldest brother David. Funeral services will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, March 18, at 9:30 AM, immediately followed by burial services at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles, or to the Crested Butte Mountain Rescue Team.
