___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Obituary :  Terry A. Schmidt

Survived by loving wife of 40 years, Molly; children, Kurt, Julie (John) Munnich, Jennifer, Lisa (Frank) Sherman, Keri Elliott and Angela Darst; grandchildren, Iver, Christopher, Andrew Wm, William, Josh, Cristina, Henry, Austin, Trent, and Natalia; and sister-in-law, Evi Schmidt. Terry proudly wore his U.S. Navy wings of gold, leaving as a Lt. Commander after 5 years of service. He went on to have a nearly 35 year career as a Northwest Airlines pilot, retiring as captain on the DC-10.

Whether it was astronomy, ham radios, model trains, the civil war, or his impeccably manicured lawn, Terry’s passion for his hobbies and his life inspired all of us who loved him so dearly.

Our family wishes to thank Hospice of the Midwest for their exceptional care during Terry’s final months.
