___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Kenneth Williamson Memoriam

Ken passed away peacefully on December 19, 2022, at the age of 90. Ken, a long-time resident of Hauppauge NY, was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy, his daughter, Karen, and his second wife, Elizabeth. He was the loving father of Kristen Jacobsen and David Williamson. He was Grandpa to 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Bob and Wallace. Ken graduated from Columbia University in 1955 and was commissioned in the Navy in 1956. He served as a nuclear weapons officer aboard the USS Roosevelt and USS Forrestal. In 1958 he became a Navy pilot and flew the A-1 Skyraider aboard the USS Intrepid and USS Enterprise. He transitioned from active duty into the US Navy Reserves and flew the A-4 Skyhawk and became an engineer for Grumman on Long Island for several years. The desire to return to sky inspired him to fly for Pan American and eventually Delta Air Lines. He was a very active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Central Islip as well as Cornerstone Christian Fellowship on Long Island. Ken was a great sinner that was rescued and redeemed by a far greater savior, Jesus. Ken was motivated to share his faith by the conviction that salvation is by grace alone, through faith in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone.
