___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. RC/NWA Capt. David William Greene

~ IN MEMORY ~

Military veteran, RC/NWA Capt. David William Greene

FEBRUARY 15, 1951 – MARCH 4, 2024

Sharing this news received from Northwest Airlines friends and colleagues.

Captain Greene began his commercial flying career 02-03-1986.

I'm sorry to say, but David Greene's heart stopped beating this morning,

March 4th, as he spread his wings to fly West. Following a Whipple operation

2 years ago, he had other complications that he and his medical team tried

to conquer. David was 73. His joy was flying, as he flew for Northwest

Airlines, and previously Republic Airlines. Also, as his off time would

allow, he flew for Kenmore Air, and privately for some clients. He moved to

LaConner, WA, where he planned to live during his retirement. Dave will be

missed by his friends and Dorie More. May he rest in peace.

David Greene Obituary

He was born to Thelma and Albert Greene Jr. at Swedish Hospital, in Seattle, one of six children.

Dave grew up on Lake Washington and from an early age loved the water and airplanes. In high school he began flying, which led to a career as a pilot. He flew float planes for Kenmore Air. Dave flew jets, many international flights for Northwest, and retired from Delta Airlines as a captain in 2016.

He was a hard worker, gladly helping family and friends with projects outdoors, from landscaping to washing their windows. He was loyal and generous. Dave financially supported various food banks and the charitable work of the Anacortes Family Center, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

Dave loved God. He was a man of faith who questioned deeply and read a lot.

He died at Virginia Mason Hospital, Seattle, in peace. His family and girlfriend were with him. He is deeply missed.

A gathering to remember Dave together will be on June 1 at 1:00pm at Kenmore Air in Kenmore, WA.

  1. Without a doubt the most generous man I ever knew. Dave was a wonderful friend and always thought of me being much more than Ier truly was. I shall miss our friendship and long conversations. He was always my go to guy and without him, I shall miss him so very much. When we were together, I was always wishing I was a little mouse that could hide in his pocket while he flew all those Kenmore flights durning the summer. That was truly a bit of magic and you knew this was Dave's love of aviation.
