USAF veteran, WA/DL Capt. Jack B. Bush

December 11, 1939 ~ June 20, 2024



On the morning of June 20, 2024, Jack B. Bush of Fallbrook, California passed away at the age of 84 years old.

 

Jack was born to Basil and Yudell Bush in December, 1939 in Michigan, where he grew up on a farm. He later attended Northwestern Michigan College and Western Michigan University from which he graduated with a degree in Petrol Distribution in 1963.

 

In August of 1963 Jack joined the United States Air Force. He trained as a pilot in C130s and in July, 1966 he served as part of the 37th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron out of Thailand. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him several awards including The Distinguished Flying Cross. After returning stateside in 1967, he continued his service until 1969 when he left Active Duty to join Western Airlines 02-24-1969 as a pilot. He continued his service in the Air Force Reserves, during which he attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. He retired from the Air Force in 1999 and from Delta Air Lines in 2003.

 

Jack was a born leader who loved working with his hands and serving others. In his retirement he grew avocados on his farm in Fallbrook, California where he was able to play with his tractors, head his local road committee and spend time with his family. He was the bedrock and go-to person for lots of his family and friends and his absence will be felt by many.

 

He is survived by his 2 children, Timothy (Christina) Bush and Wendi (Brian) Koshley, his grandchildren Amanda (Koshley) (Jonathan) Awad, Michael Koshley, Rebecca Koshley, Jackson Koshley, and Georgia Bush, his sisters Mary Ann Bush and Nancy Jackson, and his long-time friend Dr. Angeline Dao and her family.
