___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Nancy Rowe Peters of Taylors, South Carolina, went home to the Lord on March 10th, after sustaining injuries in a car accident. She was 81 years old.  Nancy is survived by her husband retired Delta Air Lines pilot and Delta Golden Wings member Captain Thomas “Tom” H. Peters.  Tom joined Delta Air Lines 06-02-1969 and was Atlanta based.

For those who may wish to send a personal note, I see the family’s residence listed in whitepages as

Nancy was born in 1944 in Massachusetts to Richard and Elizabeth Rowe. She was the oldest of four children. Nancy earned a degree from Emory University and began a teaching career that lasted until 1970 when she became a mother to twin girls.

In the mid-70’s, Nancy earned a Master’s in Primary Education, which she used for several years as a school counselor at Gwin Oaks Elementary in Lawrenceville, Georgia. In 1991, after raising her girls, Nancy went back to school again and received a Master’s in Counseling. From that point on she was off to the races. She would “have coffee” with women, listening to their stories and giving sought-after advice. She was never paid for these sessions and more often than not, also bought the coffee.

She was a faithful student of the Bible, attending Allgood Road UMC, Perimeter Church, and most recently, North Hills Church. Wherever she attended, she was a part of the women’s Bible study. She loved studying God’s word with other sisters in Christ in her churches, and also with Bible Study Fellowship.

Nancy loved being Nanny to five grandchildren (Michael, Amy, Megan, Rebecca, Ryan) and Great-Nanny to two (Lonnie and Teddy).

Nancy is survived by husband of nearly 59 years, Tom, aforementioned girls Christy (Sean) Duffy and Heather (David) Bokowy, her grands, great grands and many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sue Wilson, and brother Richard Rowe.

In lieu of flowers, she’d welcome donations to Young Life, North Carolina Region – AF117. Gifts can be given online (https://giving.younglife.org) or via check: Young Life NC Region, 900 Ridgefield Dr., Suite 270, Raleigh, NC 27609.

More than anything Nancy would like you to know that Jesus is real, that He loves you, and that He wants you to know Him. Consider joining her church family at North Hills Church in Taylors, or another church near you this Sunday morning.

  1. While I never had the pleasure of knowing Nancy, I worked for and with Tom for many years and know how dearly he loved his wife and family. Tom, you will be in our prayers and thoughts and know that Nancy knew where she was destined and one day you shall meet again. God Bless. Alan and Marlee Price
