___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our PCN Flight West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

From Family:  It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Bill.

He was born in Hazleton, PA on Aug 6, 1936 and had a love for flying from a very early age. He started volunteering at a local airport and the rest was history!

His career began in 1963 with Delta and flew   DC-8’s, DC-9’s, followed by B767’s. After Delta’s retirement, he taught private lessons at a small airport in Leadville, CO - then continued flying with NetJets.

He lived in Vail, CO, where he had passion for skiing and was also a master diver. He also was a marathon runner, completing over 40 marathons.

His favorite was the Boston Marathon, which he ran for 20 consecutive years!

His celebration of life will be held in Vail, CO.

  2. I flew with Bill on the DC-9 in Chicago and he was the ultimate professional. He made my job easy and enjoyable. We also shared the love of skiing and I have many fond memories of skiing with Bill. RIP my good friend.
