Word has reached us with the passing of
Delta Golden Wings member retired Delta pilot Capt. Edwin 'Ed' Lucian Moir, age
78. Following his military service, Captain Moir joined Delta Air Lines
08-15-1969 and retired with Delta based 031/ATL. Captain Moir is survived by
his wife Patricia 'Pat'.

Edwin Lucian Moir of Tallahassee,
Florida, formally of Roanoke, Virginia passed away on September 22, 2016. He was
78 years old.
He was born in Indianapolis Indiana on
September 1, 1938 to William Maryon Moir and Jane Hildreth Moir.
Raised in Roanoke, Virginia, he graduated
from the University of Virginia in 1960, where he was a member of Sigma Phi
Epsilon Fraternity.
Ed entered into Naval Officer Training
School, Newport, Rhode Island in May 1961. He served on the USS Charles R. Ware,
before entering Naval Flight Training, 1964. After receiving his wings, he flew
A4 Skyhawks in SE Asia in 1966 aboard the carrier, FDR. He continued his service
in the Navy for 27 years, retiring with rank of Captain.
Hired by Delta Airlines in 1969, he flew
for 13 years before becoming Manager of Flight Training and Director of Training
and Standards. He retired from Delta in 1998, but continued as a Delta
interviewer for several years.
His passions were hiking on the European
National Trails with his Delta buddies, traveling the world, attending Navy
Reunions, rooting for the Cavs at UVA football games, seeing Atlanta friends,
and long-time friends in Roanoke Virginia, being with his grandchildren, and, as
many know, RUNNING.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Mitchell
Moir, his wife of 53 years, his daughter, Ellen Hildreth Moir Culpepper, and
husband Bruce, his grandson, Alexander Knox, and granddaughter, Brady Ellen, all
of Tallahassee Florida; sister, Sally Moir Walker, and niece, Julia Rogers
Clark, and husband, Martin, all of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
The funeral service will be held at St.
Peter's Anglican Church, Tallahassee FL, on Thursday, October 6, 3:00 pm.
Interment with military honors will take place at Tallahassee National Cemetery,
at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, kindly make a
donation to the St. Peter's Anglican Church building fund, 4784 Thomasville
Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308; or to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd.,
Tallahassee, FL 32308.

Retired Captain (Delta and US Navy) Edwin (Ed) L. Moir passed away
September 22, 2016 after a several-year fight with cancer with his wife, Pat, by
his side in Tallahassee, FL where his daughter, Ellen Culpepper, and her family
live.
There will be a memorial service at 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, at St.
Peter’s Anglican Church, 4784 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL, 32309.
