DL Pilot Ground Training Instructor Robert 'Bob' Wagner

Word has been received of the passing of Air Force veteran and DL Pilot Ground Training Instructor Robert ‘Bob’ Wagner.  Born June 17, 1940 Robert Lee Wagner was near 72 years of age at the time of his passing June 3, 2012.

Robert Lee Wagner

June 17, 1940 - June 3, 2012
Robert Lee "Bob" Wagner, 71, of Marietta, GA, passed away June 3, 2012, at his home. Bob was born June 17, 1940 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and attended Lakeland Senior High, in Lakeland, Florida. Following four years in the Air Force, stationed at Robins AFB in Georgia, Bob began a long and rewarding career with Delta Airlines. With leadership and hard work Bob developed the Pilot Ground Training program, which grew from 35 to over 150 instructors. He was widely respected and became a role model for future instructors. He loved teaching and brought his superior technical skills to the classroom in the second half of his career, where he taught hundreds of pilots on many technical aspects of the MD-88. Bob's interests included SCUBA diving, woodworking, flying and, perhaps most of all, riding his latest Harley, a 2011 Heritage Softail Classic, with his Harley friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Lisa Wagner; sister Helen Ann and husband John Srodek; his son, Robert Wagner, Jr. and wife Shanna; their children Trey and Kaylynn; his daughter, Mary Jane Bates and husband Rusty; their children, Matt, Marley & Micah; his nephew Randy Smith and wife Robin; his nephew Barry Smith and wife Bonnie; niece Sherry Prebor; and his Delta Airlines family. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel from 4 until 8 pm. Graveside service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Georgia on Friday, June 8, 2012, at 2 pm. Motorcade departing H.M. Patterson & Son Canton Hill Chapel at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: USO, with details found at USO.org.
