Notification of the passing of Air Force veteran, Korean War veteran, and retired DL pilot trainer Sherman Ray Ellington, age 80. I believe he went by Ray Ellington. His obituary notes that he retired with 29+ years of service, but my information is limited.

ORANGE CITY - Sherman Ray Ellington, 80, passed away Dec. 8, 2012. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at First Presbyterian Church of DeBary, 267 E. Highbanks Road. Interment with military honors provided by the U.S. Air Force will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Mr. Ellington was born in Leaksville, N.C., and retired as a pilot trainer for Delta Air Lines, with more than 29 years of service.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of Korean War Veterans Post 153.
 
Mr. Ellington was a member of First Presbyterian Church of DeBary and the Model A Ford Car Club, and he was a Mason.

He graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Mr. Ellington is survived by his wife of 16 years, Helen J. Ellington; two daughters, Suzianne Garner of Suwanee, Ga., and Angela Christine Ellington of Fayetteville, N.C.; sister June Kyles of Eden, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
