WA/DL Capt. George O. Maguire
December 27, 1933 ~ January 1, 2013
On New Years Day, we received news of the passing of WA/DL
retired pilot Captain George Owen Maguire. I have not yet located an obituary,
but I believe George and sibling John Jr. were born/raised in Brockton MA, born
to parents John Norris Maguire Sr. and Helenor Hurley Maguire. George’s brother
John passed away just one month ago on November 27th at the age of
82.
Captain Maguire hired on with Western Airlines 10-28-1957, and
retired with Delta Air Lines October 1993. I believe he was based LAX for most
if not all of his career. Captain Maguire just celebrated his 79th birthday on
December 27th, and the Maguires celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary having
married December 28, 1972. Captain Maguire is survived by his wife Beverly Hoff
Maguire.
