September 13, 1944 ~ November 23, 2011


Belated notification of the passing of CAPT USNR decorated Vietnam war veteran, WA/DL pilot, and practicing law attorney Dennis Bernard ‘Denny’ Gillease. Denny hired on with Western 06-05-1978 and was 67 years of age at the time of his passing in November 2011. He is survived by his wife Geraldine ‘Gerri’ who can be reached at

Inurnment services were held at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, United States Naval Academy Cemetery, Annapolis MD.

GILLEASE , Dennis Bernard
On November 23, 2011, Dennis Bernard Gillease , of Modesto, CA, passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Geraldine; his cherished children, Kelly and her husband, Jacob Hauber, and Kevin Gillease. He is also survived by his dear brother, Michael and his wife, Linda; and his dear sisters, JoAnn Januszkiewicz and her husband, William, Regina Koenig and her husband, Lawrence, and Patricia Gillease, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dennis was born and raised in East Baltimore and was the devoted son of the late Mary and Vincent Gillease. He attended Loyola High School and the United States Naval Academy. He was a highly decorated Navy pilot who served two combat tours in the Vietnam War. While serving in the Navy Reserves, Dennis also passed the California bar exam and became a practicing attorney in Modesto. His first love, however, was flying and he enjoyed a long career as a commercial airline pilot until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He retired from the Navy as a Captain. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Dennis was cremated in Modesto and a Memorial Mass and Inurnment services will take place at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
