WWII veteran, retired ATL DL Flight Supv. Leonard Vinton ‘Daba’ Penny passed away June 10th at the age of 89.

Biography:
 
Mr. Leonard Vinton "Daba" Penny, age 89, born July 31, 1923 in Atlanta Ga, to D.L. and Myrtle (Morris) Penny, died peacefully at home on Monday June 10, 2013, in Thomaston Ga.
 
He attended Atlanta Boys High and The University of Tennessee, at which time he was in training with the Eighth Air Force. During WWII, he flew missions as a B-17 Radio Operator and Gunner with the 401st Bomb Group.
 
He married Elsie Hendry on June 18, 1948 and joined Delta Airlines, retiring as a Flight Superintendent, with 37 years of service. Leonard and Elsie are the proud parents of five children, John (Virginia) Penny, Glen Penny (deceased 1982), Keith Penny, Elaine Penny, and Karen (Richard) Shampaine; grandchildren Annalee Penny, Kyle (Shanna) Penny, Jared Penny; great-granddaughter Kyla Penny; sister-in-law Charlene (Oliver) Race; cousins, Regina (Lee) Brown, and Helen (James) Barrett (Deceased); nieces and nephews.
 
Leonard was a member of Thomaston First United Methodist Church, past president of the Service Sunday School Class, Capitol View Masonic Lodge #640 F&AM, and the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.
 
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the Thomaston First United Methodist Church, on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 10-11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of choice.
