___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Obituary............
Mike's 79 years of life came to an end Sunday, Oct. 27. Cancer overcame this man that was full of beautiful music and stories of flying through the skies. Growing up in the Colorado mountains, his family performed as a band.
After starting college to study music, he chose to enter the Marines and start flight school. A long and successful career flying jets and working for Northwest Airlines gave him the opportunity to do what he loved.
Mike and Jan Phillips enjoyed traveling and spending time at home working on landscaping. After Jan's death in 1999, Mike returned to his love of music playing at two local churches and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his children, Lori Phillips, Julie Phillips, Monica and Matt Hampson; grandchilddren, Morgan and Milo Hampson; brother, John Robert Phillips.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming.
