Notification with the passing of WWII veteran, retired Navy Commander, Delta Golden Wings member, retired C&S/DL Captain Niels Kenneth ‘Ken’ Allerup, age 92.  Captain Allerup joined Chicago & Southern Airlines 06-28-1948 and retired with Delta Air Lines at the mandatory age 60 in 1981, based ATL.  Captain Allerup is survived by his wife Helga.  Personal condolences may be sent to the family at

Subject: DEATH OF RETIRED DL CAPTAIN KENNETH ALLERUP

Kenneth Allerup, age 92, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on December 10, 2013. Mr. Allerup was born in Chicago, IL to Niels and Alice Allerup who preceded him in death, as did a brother Norman. Mr. Allerup is survived by his beloved wife Helga Allerup and a brother Peter, as well as his step children Claudia Sleep and Barbel Woodard, four grandsons and five great grandchildren. Mr. Allerup was a veteran of World War II and served as a Naval Aviator. Following the war, he remained in the Naval Reserve as an active member and retired from the Navy as a Commander. Mr. Allerup was an international airline pilot for Delta Airlines. He retired in 1981, having served over 30 years as a Captain. He loved his job very much and missed it throughout his retirement years. After his retirement, he and his wife Helga traveled the world. They enjoyed numerous cruises to destinations such as Australia, Singapore, the Panama Canal and many more. Mr. Allerup was always ready to seek out a new adventure. He will be terribly missed.
