Notification with the passing of WWII and Korean war veteran Capt. Frank James Moynahan, age 88.  Captain Moynahan joined Delta Air Lines 09-26-1949 and retired at the mandatory age 60 in 1985, based ATL.  Captain Moynahan was widowed in January 2012 with the passing of his wife Lucille.   He had most recently resided at

Mr. Frank James Moynahan, 88, passed away at Wesley Woods of Newnan on December 12, 2013 surrounded by his children and caregivers from complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on January 7, 1925 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, serving as a pilot in the Army Air Corps and later in the Indiana and Georgia Air National Guards. In 1951, he married Lucille Ruppersburg of College Park, GA, where they lived and raise their three children. Frank enjoyed a 36 year career as a pilot with Delta Air Lines. After retirement, he continued flying his own airplanes, as well as travelling, sailing, and enjoying family. In 1992, Frank and Lucille moved to Newnan to be closer to all the children and grandchildren. Lucille passed away in January 2012 and Frank is survived by his three children: Nancy M. Carson (Tom), Susan M. Goodson (John), Tom F. Moynahan (Kathy); Grandchildren: Chad Carson (Kari), Andrew Carson (Emily), Meredith McCloud (Andrew), and Scott Goodson; Great-granddaughters: Serena, Beatrice, and Aliana Carson. The funeral Mass is Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Catholic Church with Father Henry Atem officiating. The visitation is Friday evening between 6:00-8:00 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or a charity of one’s choice. MOYNAHAN, Lucille Lucille Ruppersburg Moynahan, 84, of Newnan died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. She was born June 14, 1927 in Atlanta to the late Louis Arthur Ruppersburg & Ethel Finley Ruppersburg. Lucille grew up in College Park and was a 1944 graduate of College Park High School. She attended Shorter College before going to work in the personnel department of Delta Airlines. While working at Delta she met her husband of over 60 years, Frank J. Moynahan. All her life she was a passionate bridge player participating in several clubs. After moving to Newnan, she became very active in the community serving as a volunteer with the Newnan Hospital Auxiliary. The graveside service for family & friends in Atlanta is Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Westview Cemetery with Rev. Sharon Edgar officiating. The memorial service is Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 5:00 PM at Newnan Presbyterian Church with Dr. Harry Barrow officiating. Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church. Rather than flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Newnan Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1107, Newnan, GA 30264 or to the charity of one's choice .
