Charles Austin Mayfield, son of DL Capt. W. Austin Mayfield

Mayfield, Charles Austin
February 3, 1964- December 1, 2013

Charles Austin Mayfield, 49, a native of Atlanta, GA passed away on December 1, 2013. He was born at Ramey Air Force Base, Puerto Rico prior to his family’s move to Atlanta in 1965. Charles is survived by his wife Dr. Teresa Bustos Mayfield of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his parents William Austin Mayfield and Antoinette Vincent Thomas, a sister, Catherine Mayfield Pittman, two brothers, William Justin Mayfield and Preston Beebe Mayfield, and four nieces, all residents of Atlanta. Mr. Mayfield was a 1983 graduate of Randolph-Macon Academy in Virginia. He also received his Bachelor of Arts degree in French from Georgia State University. Charles was an avid and frequent traveler to Canada, Europe and South America. After many years of travel he settled in Buenos Aires where he met his future wife Teresa. He and Teresa were married in 2006. A private memorial service is planned for early January 2014.

I am writing to advise that my oldest child, Charles age 49, passed away unexpectedly in Johnstown, PA where he and his wife were planning a permanent move from Buenos Aires.  Our hearts are broken as we are sustained by many prayers.  Thank you for your work for the Delta pilot family.  Charles' obituary is attached and will appear on Sunday, Dec 29 in the AJC.
