DL Flt Instructor Mr. G.C.'Curly' Reid

Korean war veteran, DL G. C. ‘Curly’ Reid

March 1, 1931 ~ January 20, 2014

 

Word has been received with the passing today of Mr. Gaylord Clyde ‘Curly’ Reid, age 82, retired Instructor for Delta’s Pilot Ground Training program.   Curly retired 01-01-1993 as Sr. Instructor-Training/ATL with 33 years of service.  Curly was widowed in February 2012 with the passing of his wife Beverly.  The Reids had most recently resided at

985 Shelor Ferry Road,  Fair Play  SC 29643-2055.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sandifer Funeral Home of Westminister SC.  Services will be held Friday, January 24th.    Condolences may be expressed online by visiting  www.sandiferfuneralhome.com

G.C. "CURLY" REID

 

Fair Play SC – Gaylord Clyde "Curly" Reid, 82, widower of the late Beverly Peacock Reid, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Emory University Hospital.

 

Born in Omaha, NE, he was the son of the late Robert Harold and Jessie Gibson Reid. Mr. Reid was retired from Delta Airlines where he worked as a Pilot Ground Trainer. He was a member of South Union Baptist church and a former choir member. He also was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War.

 

Survivors include a son, Rex Reid of Marietta, GA; daughters, Sheryl Wells of Sharpsburg, GA, and Beth Whittle of Newnan, GA; sisters, Mary Wilhelm and Mary Cloyd; three grandchildren, Stephanie Wood, Chad Whittle, and Ryan Reid; and two great-grandchildren, Ansley Wood and Anna Kate Whittle.

 

A memorial service will be held 1 pm, Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date.

 

The family is at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to South Union Baptist Church, 510 South Union Road, Westminster, SC 29693 or to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Ave. Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 60091-1064. BEVERLY PEACOCK REID

 

Fair Play, SC – Beverly Peacock Reid, 72, wife of Gaylord Clyde "G.C." Reid, of 985 Shelor Ferry Road, passed away Monday, February 06, 2012 at Lila Doyle Nursing Home.

 

Born in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Elizabeth Johnson Peacock. Mrs. Reid worked as the Office Manager for D & N Electric in Hapeville, GA and was a member of South Union Baptist Church, Fair Play, SC where she was the church pianist.

 

Survivors in addition to her husband include her son, Rex Reid of Marietta, GA; daughters, Sheryl Wells of Sharpsburg, GA, and Beth Whittle of Newnan, GA; brother, John Peacock of East Point, GA; 3 grandchildren, Stephanie Wood, Chad Whittle, and Ryan Reid; and 1 great-grandchild, Ansley Wood.

We were sad to hear that Curley Reid, Instructor in Delta Pilot Ground Training passed away today at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
