WAL Capt. George Arthur ‘Art’ Chapman Jr.
March 12, 1924 ? ~ February 1, 2014
Notification with the passing of WAL pilot Captain George
Arthur Chapman Jr.. Born/raised in the Los Angeles area, I believe Captain
Chapman was nearing his 90th birthday at the time of his passing. Captain
Chapman joined Western Airlines 01-13-1953. Per the January 1978 issue of
Western’s Flight Times, he was listed as Assistant Manager-Second
Officers (DC-10), Los Angeles. I believe he spent the majority if not all of
his career based LAX. Captain Chapman had most recently resided at 7432 Donna Ave., Reseda, CA 91335 ...
(818) 342-1706.
The Chapman family advices us that a memorial service will be held at a
later date.

For those who knew him:
One of our Western Airlines stalwarts passed away
today.
George Arthur (Art) Chapman died peacefully at home
today with his son Robert in attendance. Art had been failing due to basic old
age for the past year or so and during the past few months, he was unable to
recognize visitors.
Robert informs me that he plans to have some sort
of remembrances celebration at their home in Reseda some time within the next
month, details to be forthcoming.

I am sad to hear of MR CHAPMANs passing--- I grew up at 7431 DONNA AVE and knew the Chapman family very well-- "ART" was a true gentleman and a very very intelligent human being.. May he rest in peace.
