Captain Loren Howard Kirsch, age 77. Captain Kirsch joined Northwest Airlines
01-09-1967. Captain Kirsch’s obituary notes his retirement in
1995.

As noted in the obituary below, visitation will be
held Thursday, March 6th from 1-5pm and Friday, also March 7th from 9am-5pm.
Services will be held Saturday March 8th at 1 pm at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home
in Spokane WA. Interment will follow the service at Riverside
Cemetery.

KIRSCH, Loren H.
Born and raised in Spokane, Loren attended Lewis & Clark
High School and Gonzaga Prep. He went on to Gonzaga University to studying
electrical engineering for several years. He married Pat Taylor on August 14,
1959. Shortly thereafter he went on to flight school in Laredo Texas. Loren was
a radar intercept navigator in the Air National Guard, being only one of two
pilots with this distinction. After 25 years of flying multiple aircraft to
include the T-33, F-89, F102, F-101 and the KC-135 Loren retired from the Air
Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. Loren also flew as a commercial Airline Pilot for
Northwest Airlines. He retired in 1995 with 29 years of service, logging over
8800 hours flying Boeing 727, 707, 320, and 720. He logged 400 hours on the
DC-10 and flew the 747 as copilot for 15 years. When not flying Loren spent his
time at Hayden Lake with his family and later at their cabin on the Pend Oreille
River. Many days were spent in the boat pulling his kids water skiing.
Snowmobiling and snow skiing were some of the other activities he enjoyed with
his family. His younger years were spent tinkering on engines of both cars and
motorcycles. Loren is preceded in death by his parents Al and Catherin Kirsch.
He is survived by his wife Pat Kirsch; son, Mike Kirsch (Susan); daughters,
Debbie Pehan (Gene) and Terri Serbousek (Mark); sister Marilyn Carter;
grandchildren: Brad Hart (Sarah), Nic Serbousek (Alyson), Stephanie Shaw (Bill),
Eric Serbousek and Jeffrey Kirsch; and great-grandchildren: Taylor, Hayden and
Baby Serbousek due in August. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6th
from 1-5pm and Friday, March 7th from 9am-5pm with services being held Saturday
March 8th at 1 pm at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow the
service at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the

remembered as a wonderful husband, great dad and fun grandpa. A man of
integrity, always the teacher and willing to give the shirt off his back to
those in need. Loren earned his final set of wings on February 28, 2014. Fly
