Notification with the passing of Grace Ellen Helker, age 82, wife of retired WAL/DAL pilot Captain Harlen J. Helker.  Captain Helker joined Western Airlines 03-15-1962 and was based Denver for much of his career.  Memorial services for Grace will be held Sunday the 14th of June at Conifer Community Church in Conifer, Colorado.  Always very active in their community, Grace is survived by their many friends as well as many family members.  Personal condolences may be sent to Captain Helker and his family at12479 S. Grace Ellen Helker, 82, was born May 4, 1933, in Oakland, Calif., and was raised in Concord, Calif.
She married Harlan Jim Helker on Sept. 8, 1952, and they were married 62 years.
A Conifer resident for 50 years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, who was a pilot for Western Airlines, and joined him in places such as Honolulu and Anchorage. She also took several trips to Europe.
She was very involved in the Conifer extension of the Salvation Army, a Girl Scout leader, a 40-year member of the Conifer Area Chamber of Commerce a volunteer for the Kiwanis Golden K Club, and she helped organize the Conifer Historical Society.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan; two daughters, Lois Helker and Carol Helker Lyons; son Scott Helker; two granddaughters, Desiree Sky Maranda and Eleanor Helker; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John Leng Monday and Chris Peter Monday.
She was preceded in death by her father, George E. Monday, mother Maplet Leng Monday, sisters Delitha Gardner and Margaret Jane White, and brother Donald K. Monday.
A memorial service for Grace is planned on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Conifer Community Church, 9998 Havekost Road, with a reception following.
