___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Phillip D. Sabin, Lt. Col USAF (Ret), 66, a precious child of God, joined hands with his Savior on January 12, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born January 10, 1949 to Harry W. and Frances M. (Register) Sabin in Michigan City, Indiana.

After graduating from Pontiac Twp. High School, Pontiac, IL, Phil earned his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Illinois and in 1973 was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He received his Master's Degree from AFIT in 1981 and finished his distinguished career in 1993 at Andrews Air Force Base where he flew Air Force Two. He continued his love of flying as a commercial pilot, retiring in 2013 from Delta Airlines. He traded his wings for wheels and was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of traveling the Alcan Highway to Alaska. Truly, it was "A Wonderful Life."
