Mr. John Theodore McMahan, better known as Johnny, age 86, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away on July 5, 2016. Johnny was born in Inglis, Florida to the late Herbert Brown and Mildred Lambert McMahan. His parents and one brother, James Curtis McMahan preceded him in death. Mr. McMahan was employed by Delta Airlines for 45 years, retiring as a Pilot Ground School Instructor. Johnny was known for his witty sense of humor and caring personality. He enjoyed serving at Berea Christian Church, cooking, and building doll houses. “Pop Pop” treasured time spent with all of his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Johnny leaves behind his wife of 66 plus years, Mary Kate Chappell McMahan of Locust Grove, Georgia; son, Ted McMahan and his wife, Janet of Yulee, Florida; daughter, Terry Willey of Tucker, Georgia; daughter, Jan Grau and her husband Joseph of Bowling Green, Kentucky; daughter, Jean Price of Stockbridge, Georgia; son, Tim McMahan and his wife, Janice of Locust Grove, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Paul T. McMahan of Alexandria, Virginia; sister, Mary Ruth McMahan of St. Petersburg, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to honor Johnny’s life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 beginning 11:00AM at Berea Christian Church. Rev. David Fulton, Rev. Dennis Fulton, and Paul Chappell will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Berea Cemetery.
