___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Obituary for Herbert Creagh Kuhn (1921 - 2016) ...................................
Herbert C. Kuhn, age 95, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the home of his daughter in Quitman, AR.
He was born August 23, 1921 in Dallas, TX to Erin Kathleen Creagh and Walter E Kuhn.
It was during college that he realized his lifelong dream when he transferred from Rice University to the University of Houston to attend a newly inaugurated FAA course teaching students to fly. With the outbreak of WWII, he served as a flight instructor at Texas A&M, then joined the Ferry Command and subsequently the Army Air Corps serving in the South Pacific in the Air Corps' Ferry Command.
After WWII he joined Delta Airlines, basing in Atlanta, Houston, and Ft Worth. He retired in 1981 as a flight Captain after 35 years of distinguished service with his career spanning the evolution of commercial flight from the early twin engine craft to several generations of jet aircraft. His love of flying drew him into the hobby of soaring (gliders) which he enjoyed for several years.
Herbert was the beloved husband of the late Virginia Alice Overton, being blessed with 60 years together. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Kuhn Martin (Larry) and Paula Kuhn Earl (Jim); son, Donald Walter Jason Kuhn (Tomlyn); three granddaughters; two grandsons; five great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons and many additional close friends and companions.
