___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Obituary.........................................
Doris Jean (Gaddie) Lawson, 87, of Houston, TX, passed away on January 24, 2017, at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital surrounded by family.
Doris was born on June 4, 1929 in Louisville, KY, daughter of the late Charles Reid Gaddie and Edythe Anderson Gaddie. She was proceeded in death by her brother Donald Wayne Gaddie and her husband of 58 years, Robert Lawson, who passed away in December of 2015. After graduating from high school and secretarial school, Doris worked as an Executive Secretary but was determined to find adventure and was thrilled to land a position as a stewardess for Delta Airlines. She met and married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Lawson, and they eventually settled in Houston, TX. Doris was loved by all who knew her and dedicated her life to her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her children, traveling the globe, playing golf, entertaining friends, and volunteering for worthy causes. She was an original founding member of St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church for more than 50 years, a member of the Republican Women's Club, and a member of Champions Golf Club. When her children were older she went back to work as an administrative assistant, eventually retiring from the State of Texas. Doris cherished the lifelong friendships she made in her golf and bridge groups, her wonderful neighbors, and Delta families. She lived a full and happy life in Champions for more than 50 years. During this past year she lived at Champions Brookdale Assisted Living where she made a new family of friends, but she always kept in touch with her dear friends in the Champions community through bridge, luncheons and faithful visitors. Doris believed in the power of prayer; she has entered heaven with an open heart full of grace and love, believing in life ever after, with Bob by her side.
Doris leaves behind two children, sons, Stephen (Jeanne) Lawson of Charlotte, NC, and Jeffrey (Kim) Lawson of Spring, TX; four grandchildren, Gregory (Kiersten) Lawson of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer Lawson of Houston, Kristen Lawson of Boston, MA, and Michelle Lawson of Columbus, OH; sister-in-law Carol Gaddie, brother-in-law Lee Lawson and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held on February 20th at 10:00am at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 14301 Stuebner Airline Rd, Houston, TX 77069. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Dunstan's Episcopal Youth Fund at the address above. Klein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
