CARES AND CONCERNS
Thank you to retired Captain Denny Walsh for sending the sad news of the death of retired Delta Captain, and retired USAF Colonel, Ed Ganoung, 74.  Ed was hired by Western Air Lines April 3, 1969 and came to Delta in the Western merger in 1987.  Expressions of condolence may be sent to his family care of Mrs. Sylvia Ganoung at 3725 Foxmoor Circle, Alpharetta, GA 30022-7115.

Edwin R. "Ed" Ganoung
Edwin R. "Ed" Ganoung, 74, of Alpharetta, Georgia, died at home, on May 11.  His wife and 2 sons were at his side.  He was born July 5, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He graduated from Memphis State University in 1964  where he received his B.A. degree in Industrial Management and was commissioned into the USAF Reserve .

He was assigned to Vance AFB for pilot training and graduated with his class.  He flew C-124's out of McCord AFB in Tacoma, WA, and later transitioned to the C-141 at Norton AFB.  He stayed in the AF Reserve after leaving active duty and being hired by Western in 1969, eventually making full colonel, and retired as the 729th Airlift Squadron commander at Norton AFB in San Bernardino, CA.

He was based in Los Angeles with Western and after the merger with Delta moved to Alpharetta, Georgia.  He was based in Atlanta and flew as Captain for Delta until his retirement in July 2002.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, two sons: Edwin R. Ganoung, (wife Sherrie) of San Jose, CA  and Andrew P. Ganoung of Virginia.  And two Grandchildren: Garrett and Stefania.

A celebration of his life Mass will be June 16 at 11:00am at St. Brigid Church, 3400 Old Alabama Rd., Johns Creek, GA 30022.

In 1967 he went to work for Western Airlines and was based in Los Angeles. Western Airlines merged with Delta in 1987. Ed flew as Captain for Delta until his retirement in July 2002. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, two sons: Edwin R. Ganoung, (wife Sherrie) of San Jose, CA and Andrew P. Ganoung of Virginia. Two Grandchildren, Garrett and Stefania. A celebration of his life Mass will be June 16, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Rd., Johns Creek, GA 30022. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, the American Cancer Society or the Wounded Warriors Project.
