Notice with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Ralph Edward ‘R.E.’ Frizzell, age 79.  Captain Frizzell joined Delta Air Lines 10-02-1967 and was based New Orleans.  Captain Frizzell’s obituary notes his retirement in 1992.  He is survived by his children and grandchildren

Services for Captain Frizzell were held today in Robertsdale, Alabama.

Obituary...................Ralph Edward "R.E." Frizzell 
Ralph Edward "R.E."Frizzell, age 79, a native of Foley, AL and a resident of Daphne, AL passed away, Wednesday, November 29, 2017. R.E. was a two-sport athlete and 1956 graduate of Foley High School. He received an Associate Degree from Perkinston Junior College (now Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College). He continued his education by earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University in 1961. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and entered flight school at NAS Pensacola. He earned his Naval Aviator Wings in 1962. Serving at multiple locations across the Pacific Ocean, R.E. achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander before being honorably discharged in 1966. After serving, R.E. joined Delta Air Lines in 1967 where he made a wonderful career as a pilot, retiring as Captain in 1992. During retirement he maintained a second residence in Kenai, AK often fishing for salmon and halibut. He enjoyed sharing fellowship with family, visiting friends and neighbors. R.E. was an active member of the Kenai Fellowship Church of Christ in Alaska. He was a First Generation Member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians (AL).
 
R.E. was a true "Auburn Man" and loved watching his Tigers perform. The passionate cry of "War Eagle" was frequently uttered to honor his Alma Mater. R.E. was an adventurous soul and never met a stranger. He had a generous spirit and was always one to provide comfort and care to others.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry A. Frizzell, Sr. and Vivian R. Frizzell, brothers, Henry A. Frizzell, Jr., and George E. Frizzell and wife, Anna Frizzell. Mr. Frizzell is survived by the mother of his children, Marion T. Frizzell and three children, Michael Frizzell of Atlanta, GA, Todd (Geralyn) Frizzell of Robertsdale, AL, Susan (Donald) Dobson of Foley, AL; step children, John (Ita) Richerson, Jr. of Robertsdale, AL, Stephen (Lona) Richerson of Dadeville, AL, Cheryl (Bill) D'Andrea of VA, Denise (Dennis) Perkins of Robertsdale, AL, John (Mary) Ross of Robertsdale, AL; three grandchildren, Travis, Danielle, Ryan and six step grandchildren, Jacqueline, Justin, Stephanie, Steven, Samuel and John Douglas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Mack Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arthur E. Bosarge, Jr. officiating. A visitation will be held Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Old Cooper Cemetery, Robertsdale, AL.
