This is just an update on Fred's Memorial Service. Memorial Service for Fred G. Hess will be June 8th at 11 a.m. at the Palm Beach National Chapel, 10055 Heritage Farms Rd., Lake Worth , Fl. 33449....Honor Guard afterwards at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Fl. which is next to the Chapel. A reception to celebrate Fred's life will be at the Sun Dream Yacht Charters, 2950 NE 32nd Ave., Ft.Lauderdale, Fl. Please let me know if you plan to attend , for catering count. The memorial for retired Delta pilot Fred G. Hess will be June 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Palm Beach National Chapel....10055 Heritage Farms Rd., Lake Worth, Fl. 33449. He will be buried at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Fl., which is next to the Chapel. Following the service, we will have a celebration of Fred's life in Ft. Lauderdale. I have not seen the South Florida National Cemetery but it is nick-named "Arlington South"
The yacht charter will be First Class and should be a "joy of life" celebration.

Word has reached our group with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Fred Griffin Hess, age 72.  Captain Hess joined Delta Air Lines 11-27-1972 and was based MIA/FLL/SLC/PDX/ATL during his commercial flying career.  He is survived by his wife Judy Kay Brown Hess, his children and grandchildren, plus many dear friends and colleagues.

HESS, Fred Griffin, born on July 3, 1945, in Oil City, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in Pembroke Pines, FL. The son of the late Norman D. Hess and Elizabeth J. Griffin. A proud veteran of the US Air Force and a successful pilot. He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Judy Kay Hess; daughter, Nicole Walters and her husband, Jason; sons, Jordan Hess and his wife, Tricia and Jarrod Hess. Fred is also survived by four grandchildren. Pending service. Arrangements entrusted to Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel.

Fred Griffin Hess 72, lost his battle with cancer on January 10, 2018 at his home in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Fred was born on July 3, 1945 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to the late Norman D. and Elizabeth J. Griffin Hess of Seneca, Pennsylvania. Fred graduated from Cranberry Area High School and later received a B.S.degree in psychology from Grove City College in Pennsylvania, where he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the R.O.T.C. Program. Upon graduating from Grove City College, Fred began his Air Force career receiving his pilot wings at Webb AFB, Texas. He was assigned to the F-4 aircraft and a year tour of duty in Vietnam. During his tour of Vietnam, Fred received 3 Distinguished Flying Cross awards and the Air Medal with 8 oak leaf clusters. After his tour of Vietnam, Fred was assigned to the C-141 at McGuire AFB in New Jersey. Fred fulfilled his life long dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot when he was employed with Delta Airlines on November 27, 1972. During his career he was based in Miami, Salt Lake City, Portland and Atlanta where he enjoyed flying Delta's world wide destinations. Fred retired as Captain on the B-777 in 2005. Fred is survived by his wife Judy Kay Brown Hess; daughter Nicole Hess Walters and her husband Jason, grandsons Griffin and Gray; son Jordan Hess and his wife Tricia, grandsons Braden and Nolen and son Jarrod Hess.  Memorial service will be held at a later date where he will be interred at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
