WA/DL Capt. Joel ‘Joe’ Brannan Pooley, age 81
May 20, 1938 ~ November 20, 2019

Word has reached our group that retired Western/Delta pilot Captain Joel ‘Joe’ Brannan Pooley has passed having suffered a massive heart attack last Wednesday evening.  Captain Pooley joined Western Airlines 06-20-1966 and retired with Delta Air Lines, based LAX/030. He is survived by his wife Lynda plus many other dear friends and family members.  Daughter Julie writes: “….funeral services will be at 10 am on Tues. Dec. 3rd at the First United Methodist Church (surf city church): 2721 Delaware St. Huntington Beach 92648. Burial service to be at 12 noon after church service at Forest Lawn Cypress: 4471 Lincoln Ave. Cypress 90630. Reception to be at 1:30 pm at Seacliff Country Club 6501 Palm Ave. Huntington Beach, 92648.”

Background  :  Pooley, Joel Brannan was born on May 20, 1938 in San Diego, California, United States. Son of Carl Brannan and Lorena (Jones) Pooley.

Education  :  Associate of Arts, Skagit Valley College.

Career  :  Charter pilot, flight instructor, Anacortes, Washington, 1959-1966. Flight engineer Western Airlines, Los Angeles, 1966-1967, co-pilot, 1st officer, 1967-1975, captain, since 1975. Real estate salesman Century-21, Huntington Beach, 1972-1976, broker, since 1976.

Membership  :  Member committee Boy Scouts American, Huntington Beach, 1971, scoutmaster, 1973-1975. President swimming team American Athletic Union, Huntington Beach, 1975. Member Airline Pilots Association, Huntington Beach-Fountain Valley Board Realtors, Quiet Birdmen.

Lodges  : Masons. 
Interests  :  Tennis, fishing, running.

Connections  :  Married Lynda Lou Myers, November 16, 1958.
Children  : John Myers, Julia Jean.
