___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

NEA/DL former F/A Elizabeth (Betty) Plack, widow of NEA/DL Capt. John Plack

~ IN MEMORY ~

NEA/DL former F/A Elizabeth (Betty) Plack, widow of NEA/DL Capt. John Plack

From friends and colleagues we have learned of the passing of former *stewardess Elizabeth A. Plack, widow of Northeast/Delta Captain John Plack.  John joined Northeast Airlines 07-01-1946 and retired with Delta Air Lines in 1984, based Boston and then Atlanta at time of retirement.  John passed in June 2011.  We know that Betty had most recently been a resident in a memory care facility in Boston for several years.  I was able to find an online obituary for John but was not able to find one for Betty.  I did find that they are both interred at BARRANCAS NATIONAL CEMETERY in Pensacola….please see information below.

If anyone would like to add more information to this memorial site, please do let us know.

Thank you,

~ Carol for the PCN

*Betty graduated from Northeast Stewardess Training on June 1, 1961...... added to Clipped Wings listing.

  1. John and Betty were like my surrogate aunt and uncle. My mother, Carol Foley, flew with them as a “stew” with NEA 60s. Great people!

  2. John and Betty Plack were a truly delightful couple and both were exemplary of excellent employees of Delta Air Lines positions of pilot and flight attendant, respectively.. I admired the friendliness and jovial dispostion of both during my career as a pilot with Delta.
