Notice of passing…..retired Pan Am/Delta pilot Captain Joseph Paul Miller Jr., age 75.  Captain Miller joined Pan American 06-09-1987 and retired with Delta Air Lines.  He is survived by his wife June and by his children and their families.

Joseph P. Miller Jr., 75, of Yardley, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 7, 2023.

 

Joe was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 19, 1947 to Joseph and Helen Miller. He graduated from St. Willibrord C.H.S. in 1965 and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical Institute, in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1970.

 

Joe was married to June Murray on May 1, 1971; they were married 51 years. He worked as an airline Captain for Ransome, Pan Am and later Delta airlines though he never felt he worked a day in life due to his love of flying. Joe was also a certified flight instructor and examiner with the FAA. He enjoyed collecting model airplanes, reading science fiction novels, riding motorcycles, traveling the world, dispensing advice, and spending time in his hangar with family and friends at his home in Spruce Creek Fly In, Port Orange, FL. He was also a dedicated member of the Philadelphia Glider Council.

 

Joseph is survived by his wife June, daughters Rebecca Miller (Neal Handly), Elizabeth Miller and Leah Quarles (Justin), his sons Joseph Miller and Kris Miller, granddaughter Christine, sister Christine Sterchele (Don), nieces, nephews, and a great many dear friends.

 

A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Woodside

Church (1667 Edgewood Rd. Yardley, PA. 19067). Light refreshments will follow the service. All are welcome to stay and share their stories of Joe with family and friends.
