Navy veteran, PAA/DL Capt. Vincent Leo Duffy

January 5, 1939 ~ March 7, 2025

 

Following his military service, Vince became a successful commercial pilot with Pan American World Airways and Delta Air Lines.  Vince joined Pan Am 08-01-1966 and retired with Delta in 1999, and was based 030/ATL at the time of his retirement.  He is survived by his wife Helen, and by his children and his granddaughters.

Vincent Leo Duffy, 86, of Mount Pleasant, SC passed away on March 7, 2025.

 

Vincent was born on January 5, 1939, in Massachusetts to Vincent Leo Duffy and Kathryn Toomey Duffy. Vincent graduated from Stonehill College in Easton, MA, and pursued graduate studies at Notre Dame University.

 

Vincent was a Navy Veteran. Following his military career, he became a successful commercial pilot with Pan American World Airways and Delta Airlines.

 

Vincent was a good man who loved his family. He was a dedicated husband and father, a good conversationalist, and enjoyed his friendships.

 

Vincent had a love of music, was a talented photographer, and enjoyed tending to his roses. He frequented Waterfront Park in Mount Pleasant and enjoyed strolls down the pier.

 

Vincent is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Duffy; children: Timothy (Jan) of Redwood City, CA, Christopher (Marcie) of Charlotte, NC, and Meghan of Mount Pleasant, SC; and three granddaughters.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stella Maris Building Fund, Stella Marris Roman Catholic Church 1204 Middle Street, P.O. Box 280, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation - Mount Pleasant, 1520 Rifle Range Rd, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464, 843-884-3833.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.

 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482.
